Developing an Integrated Energy–Economy Model Framework for Islands

چکیده

This paper presents a new energy–economy system modelling approach, developed specifically for energy planning in non-interconnected islands, aiming decarbonization. Energy is an essential tool to shape the transition reach carbon neutrality medium- and long-term horizon. Islands, as small-scale systems, have limited contribution global climate targets, but due their geographical natural limitations, they present potential become frontrunners clean transition, especially regarding efficient use of resources. The specificities complexities islands cannot be adequately covered by available tools advanced approaches need provide appropriate support designing future decarbonized systems at insular level. Our methodological approach follows adaptation customization well-established towards development integrated island-scale model, capturing demand supply sector, heating/cooling mobility requirements, efficiency potentials complex interactions through prices, storage, flexibility services sectoral integration. By soft-linking economy consistent exchange model parameters variables, we fully fledged framework called IntE3-ISL, designed with horizon up 2050.
